Dictionary

The whole time I was growing up. When I would ask how to spell a word everyone would say “look it up in the dictionary.” Duh if you can’t spell the word how do you look it up? Then they would say sound it out. Another duh nothing in the English language is spelt like it sounds.

Forgotten

I was really disappointed with the Academy Awards last night. They forgot Farrah Fawcett and Patrick Swayze. What happened to acknowledging all their achievements in the movie world. I would have liked that much better then the Horror movie crap. These were two really great movie stars that were overlooked. Shame on the Academy.

Johnny Weir and Tiger Woods, Neither one of these guys did anything different from anyone else but live their lives. The fact that we don’t make as much money, comes down to that. One can skate and the other play golf. It doesn’t matter what their personal life is they are still damn good at what they do. Let the first person without sin throw the first stone. We are too critical of other people, look in your own back yard. You just haven’t gotten caught at your own bull shit.

Lydia’s is now closed as of Dec.31,2009. It is a good thing for me. I now have my life back. It will be a great 2010 for everyone. Thank You for all your support, see you around sometime,somewhere.

Hype

All the hype is over. Christmas presents bought and family visits done. Whats next for everyone? Back to work, school and routine. Now we need to just stop and breath. Reality has returned!!!

Moving On

Life really throws you curves. One minute you’re headed in one direction and before you know it, bam it changes. You’re left standing there saying what the hell just happened. I have come to realize nothing in life lasts forever. Everything happens for a reason. We may not know that reason at the time, but eventually everything comes to light. We just have to sit back and wait to see.

Past life

I went to a Memorial Saturday for a dear friend. Carolyn Owens, she was the owner of the first womyns bar in Akron called Satans Den. It was on the corner of Forbes St.and Arlington St. It was the catalyst for me wanting to own a bar. The bar opened doors for gay life starting in 1972 thru 1983. It was those people that fought so hard for their lifestyle. At the Memorial there were plenty of familiar faces. We have gotten older, some gray, some a little bigger and some thinner. But I must say we picked up where we left off. It was like I was 25 all over again. We shared stories of the past and at times the laughter was uncontrolable. It was the end of an era for us. Some of us will keep in touch others will go on with their life of today. But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Again Carolyn’s bar brought happiness to us and many good memories back. She will be missed.
